Close your eyes, think Switzerland and lo! The visions that come to your mind would be lofty snowcapped Alps, decadent chocolates, and rich, creamy cheese – not necessarily in that order – you can jump to yummy drool-worthy Swiss chocolates first and if it’s Switzerland, it must be chocolate!
7th July is observed as World Chocolate Day and, this chocolate week, I was reminded of my visit to the gorgeous alpine resort a couple of years ago. After reeling in the stupendous snow-cloaked splendor of Switzerland, our visit to the Funky Chocolate Club in Interlaken and its Chocolate Factory was fascinating as we donned our aprons, chef’s cap, and were offered all the requisites needed to make us feel like a true-blue chocolatier.
The sight of all the ingredients to create a slab of chocolate where we could come up with our very own signature masterpiece was overwhelming. We just went berserk shopping for chocolatey goodies to take back home for family and friends. And it was such a pleasure to see the excitement on the faces when on opening the gift they would exclaim “Oh my God – chocolates from Switzerland?!” – such is the magic of Swiss chocolates.
