Eid-ul-Fitr also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. This religious festival of Eid is the only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast.

When is Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated?
Ramadan begins and ends with the appearance of the new moon and when the Holy month of Ramadan or Ramzan draws to a close, the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr takes place. According to the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid-ul -Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the 10th month in the Islamic calendar. The date and time of the festival depend on the sighting of the crescent moon in the sky, which varies according to different time zones in different countries.
