There is a saying in Bhagavad Gita: “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

Yoga is not only limited to stretching; it is a way of life that aims at overall physical and mental health. It manages stress, anxiety, and keeps you relaxed. It increased flexibility, muscle strength, and body tone.

Yoga provides peace and a state of mental balance. It unites people and generates a healthy ambiance. Practicing yoga is not only famous in India but also outside the country. For the west to get all these benefits of yoga, recently the Vivekananda Yoga University (VaYu) was launched in Los Angeles, US.

The university was launched after receiving official recognition from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, California, in November 2019. This university became the world’s first Yoga University outside India. It was launched to commemorate the 6th International Yoga Day on 23rd June, offering programs that are a combination of scientific principles and modern approaches to the ancient Indian practice. The university was launched by India’s minister of state for external affairs, V Muraleedharan, and chairperson of the standing committee on external affairs, P P Chaudhary.
