Pakoras or fried fritters
Pakoras are the most popular snack synonymous with monsoons. The thought of having a cup of ‘adrak-wali chai’ (ginger tea) accompanied by a plate of pakoras is the first thing that crosses our minds when we think of rain. A common snack, it is made in almost every Indian household and is also popular street food. The recipe is very simple. Take a bowl and add chickpea flour or besan; add a pinch of salt, turmeric, and chili powder to it. Then add your favorite fritters like onion, potato, palak, etc., or you can even add chicken or egg if you are a die-hard non-vegetarian. Add water accordingly and make a consistent batter. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the pakoras. Serve them hot with your favorite chutney.
